Couldn't get back far enough to get the full tail in.

Really detail in the head and feathers.
With the tail I would have been tempted to take a second shot and stitched it back on.

Wow, never seen one of those flying around! Whereabouts was this taken? I think it's a great shot, shame about clipping the tail, but it sounds like there wasn't much you could do! What lens did you use, exif says 600mm? Possibly a slightly smaller aperture could have increased the DOF too, you had some shutter speed in hand and could have made sure that all the feathers were completely sharp, but great stuff nonetheless (y)

shot on the Wear, couple of hundred yards downstream from Framwellgate Bridge using Minolta 600mm f4....managed a tail this time :LOL:

Another couple from Sunday, must be a popular fishing haunt for them...
