On a thread earlier this week I defended the so called "Crap Kit" such as kit lenses and said that you could get decent results. This was taken not with a Crap kit lens but an even crapper 30 year old Soligor 135mmf2.8 screw mount lens for which I paid the princely sum of £8.It was attached to a Canon 350D shot wide open at 1600ASA and i am rather pleased with it.

There's a load of noise in that shot but I'd say it helps to make it work. I like it somehow. It (could be) that it brings a raw edge to it.

There isn't too much chance to compose a shot like that when its all going on but again, it works.

As for crap kit. Kit never made a photographer. It helps but it never MADE a good'un. There's an exhibition on in Birmingham by a guy how's been taking images with an old pin-hole camera recently around Bristol. Blumin' great stuff!

It's not what you use it's how you use it!

(This advice is relevant to many things in life :exit:)
