Hi everyone :)
More than two months I was building feeding station for birds. My friends let me build it in their farm. Finally birds started coming there and I was able to take some pictures of them. Still have a problem with light there but I will sort it out soon I hope. Any comments, advices are very welcome.

1. First appeared, of course, blue tits

6. I know it is no Bird but this little Bank Vole made home under logs :) It is so interesting to watch it. This little thing is only out of its home if little birds are on the feeder

Well done Maryla, great set of delicate images, good colours and compositions

brightens up the morning!

Hi Maryla

Many thanks for the setup picture. It explains the nice background and perching locations that give almost all that you posted the naturalist look with good OOF bokeh & backgrounds. And what with the ground level materials for small rodents as well the likes of frogs/toads and the insect life (given time) looks extra nice and reminds me that when I setup my winter feeder(s) again to allow for approach perches, though all I have to work is the back garden :)

You've a lovely selection there Maryla and the feeding station looks like it has some great habitat round about.

6 and 13 would be my pick of the bunch (y)

Thank you so much for your comments.
It is very good location, just few people around and it looks like the birds begin to ignore me, I have woods there and all sort of weeds so they can hide there. I use Canon 7D with Canon 400 5.6, but I will try Sigma 70-300 as well cos for bigger birds I am a bit to close....

Well done Maryla, a great set of shots. Good for you building the feeding station too.

Coal Tit coming regularly now

19. And Nuthatch, but this one doesn't sit very often on any perches, it is going straight on the feeder

20. More Bank Voles arrived, today I counted four of them :)

Thank you for looking and all comments.
Birds are getting more comfy but I need to do some more work there. GSW arrived but I need to prepare some post for it. I am to close when it sits on one of the perches :(

21. Coal Tit still coming

More crackers to be jealous of

Looking at the setup how did you attach the wooden crossmember to the two hooped bars of the hangers? Oh, and just how close are you to get such frame fillers or have you also setup a hide???

Lastly, just what is the GSW you mention?

Thank yo :D
The perches just lie on the bars, to protect them against the wind I hanged the feeders on them. I am sitting about 4m away from the feeder and sometimes I use camouflage tent or net. Yesterday over an hour I was there with no hide and birds were still coming. Even GSW (Green Spotted Woodpecker) sat on the front of me and was looking at me for few minutes - unfortunately it was to close and didn't fit in the frame :( So more work must be done there ;)

Thank you for looking and your comments. I have to start with new feeding station. Yesterday all was destroyed, it looked like some big war was there....... :(:(:( I've put a bit work there yesterday and some birds get back :)

28. Robin was first

My wife and I have just sat and gone through your thread Maryla, wonderful, truly wonderful. I think you may have inspired us to go that little bit further and create our own similar feeding station. Please keep up the good work.

More delights and I also most like the Wren, they are such wonderfull little birds but oh so skittish.

PS what on earth destroyed the feeding station setup??? :(

More great images. You're also giving me ideas for adaptations to my own feeders, though at the moment the birds only seem to come when I'm not there to see them! Hopefully we'll get some colder weather to change that.

Thank you for looking and comments. Not many different species were there yesterday but tits are always present :)

Now this little ones posture, all fluffed up and one leg tucked in (to keep warm?) is especially pleasing :)

PS Did you determine how the original setup was destroyed???

I'm not sure what happened but Deer are there, foxes and badger as well, it didn't look like a human was involved and also my little friends Bank Voles gone so it could be a fox............
