D700 price reduction?

I see that on 24th August, Ken Rockwell mentioned a price reduction on the D700 at Amazon USA:

That link doesn't show the price right now, but adding the thing to your basket prices it at $2300. That's a cool £1450 at tourist exchange rates.

Does anyone have any information on possible price cuts here?

Remember,that's £1450 plus tax...if you add UK VAT to it then it would be £1667.50, against £1714 in the UK. Allow for a few pennies either way in the exchange rate and it's near as dammit the same price...

I'm not suggesting buying one from the US, but as there's been a price drop in the USA I'm wondering if the same might happen here.

Well actually, I've noticed that Jessops are offering 8% cashback via Quidco, so that brings the D700 down to £1655. Nice price.
