Does anyone here use a Tamron 28-70 f/2.8 with a DX body?

Although I like my Nikon 17-55 f/2.8, I do seem to find myself wanting a slightly longer length. Had a look through some recent pics and although there were a few between 17 and 24, most were 28/30 or above. So, with that in mind I am seriously thinking about going for the Tamron instead.

Are there many here that use that type of setup? Do you ever find you need to go wider or can 28 make do in most cases.

Most of my pics are portraits and general stuff. This lens would be my everyday walkabout type lens. If I sold the Nikon to get this I would have almost enough for a Sigma 10-20 if I needed one?

I hardly ever use the wider mm in my photography (primarily shots of people) so when I came to downgrade from the D700 to the D300 I kept my Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8. In some ways, I actually prefer it on DX due to the range it covers with the crop-factor.

That is one thing I miss about my 18-70. Think that confirms my thoughts.
