Hi Graham - nope it's digital, but it's shot with old Canon 5D, which is a wonderful camera for stills; it has limitations, but has a large sensor and renders noise nicely, like film, so it has something of a cult status.

I shoot raw and import to Lightroom - I have 2 or 3 presets I made; amongst a few little minor tweaks (lens correction for my 35mm lens etc), this particular preset adjusts the tone curve to flatten the black a little - this is the biggest change to give that film-like look, and can be achieved in all sorts of image-editing programs. My setup is not exactly the same, but I found this link: http://www.eatthelove.com/2013/11/matte-tutorial-lightroom/ and in the first few steps explains the tone curve adjustment for matte blacks.

Cheers, I should have known it was the 5D! I miss mine. Will read up when I get a chance, thought it lacked a little digital contrast if you know what I mean but good to see it was deliberate and agree that it gives it a nice film look.

This is my boy Chester. He lives up to his bread and loves water and jumping through the long grass. Find it addictive taking photos of him when out on walks. And he seems to of mastered posing for his picutres now!
