You just beat me to this one Bill - called a White-legged Damselfly in the UK.
This one's a Migrant Hawkler (female)
Not an expert and probably wrong, but looks like a male common darter to me.

only seen it once, before this afternoon
Migrant Hawkers - this species allows great opportunities for in flight shots. Just stand and watch and you will soon spot where they hover.
