Not a bird person at all, and I have to admit my bird photography skills are woeful .... But seen a wild egret today (never seen one before!) on the lake at Kedleston Hall near Derby. Is this unusual, or are they normally found in the midlands and I've just not noticed? (Took some dodgy shots ... One day I'll work out how to post then ...)

They are mainly southern softees Sara but have been seen as far north as Scotland according to the RSPB, however there are three types, Great Egret, Little Egret and Cattle Egret.

I've seen them at the Loch of Strathbeg near Fraserburgh and it don't get much more cold, bleak and windswept than it does up in that hole.
