Perhaps a touch of sepia toning might help to create the impression of age.

I thought of putting a sepia tone on it but sepia is a function of time and its interaction with the paper and chemicals used to develop the photo. I wanted it to look as if it was a current "long ago" photo; i.e., we're back in the early 1800s.
 
I was referring to real sepia toning not the browning due to degradation. This was done chemically, in the early days of photography.
