Found a spot where these are nesting i have been waiting further down the stream on and of for a few weeks trying to spot them, there is a lack of light but at least yesterday finally struck gold not brilliant but was excited to catch my first sight of one

Congrats and patience paid off well with a nice set.
I had a pair nesting in the river below me but unfortunately found one run over by a car just outside my house but its mate is still here as I saw it yesterday.

Thank you for your reply's i have been back agian today. Just after a bit of advice i normally shoot in manual but it was impossible in the light where these are so i used aperture but the shutter speed goes right down will a monopod help any better than using os, thank you agian
 
Good captures considering the conditions, not an easy bird to get close to either. If you are forced to use a low shutter then some kind of support would be good for you, as for a monopod it depends how comfortable you are using one if the terrain is rough. If it were me I would choose a Tripod.
