First Time Protrait

Hi first time portrait looking for some prints for my freshly decorated hallway so roped daughter to model, what do you think

They look a bit out of focus and the skin smoothing seems a bit over done. The poses look natural though and she is photogentic.

I agree the focus is just off, the key is the eye's get them nice an sharpe

Yes, focus on the eyes. You really have to nail it down. Then you need to avoid blur, which will require at least 1/60s or faster. Probably 1/200s is best since you will want to use longest possible lens, so use wide aperture and adjust ISO accordingly.

And histogram should run from pure white to black so that they don't look washed out.

Thanks fellas just looked at the data 1/13-1/25 at f4 iso100 so i just couldn't avoid camera shake, last 2 are well over done must admit myself, but first try I will try again with faster shutter speed, still got the eldest daugther but she's not as willing.
