Football Photography?

Good evening all, I apologise if I'm posting this in the wrong section. I'm really desperate to give football photography a whirl, but I'm hesitant since I'm not sure what response I might get turning up at the ground with my, to the untrained eye, large lenses. Are there any issues to beware of?
 
Don't try it at a schools' or juniors match, for starters.......

What sort of football do you mean? Local league matches or the big stuff?

My local club Blyth Spartans are a semi-professional outfit who play in the Conference North two divisions below the football league.

Loverly curry and chips at blyth spartans :) ask and make sure you ahve the correct public liability cover if you want to go pitchside. seeing as you ask like :)
 
Aye, should have mentioned that, ive got 2 million worth and some grounds wont let you in without it regardless of your accreditation.
 
Its like driving a car with no insurance not having PL cover
