No
No idea of the name

shadows/highlights/contrast could be "off" - judging by the odd comment I received yesterday

I don't have my usual computer

Flash used for first ... but taken in very bright light anyway

Hi Bill,
For the 1st one, i`d say you`ve blown it totally altho focus and detail are great.
2 and 3 are again great for focus and detail but the shadows are a bit off putting.
If the shot is just for reference then its a great shot.
Its got very nice colours.
I would say at a far guess that this is a locust but im normally wrong :D

Brilliant pictures Bill, only the last one a bit dark at the from end,

Geoff

Thanks All

- Image #1 I used the camera flash - I find the OOF parts attractive - but even at f22 these would be OOF because of the close distance I took the shot from ....... I think

The light was very strong ...... sun light and the "surface" was a cream sandy colour ....... exposure was on the insect with spot focus on the eye.

I am trying to find out what it is as apparently there are some "venomous" Grasshoppers out here

Could be one of these Bill,
Koppie Foam Grasshopper, possibly a sub adult .

Hope that helps bill.

Thanks Graham - that's the nearest I could find but I cannot find an identical image

It goes without saying that I did not pick it up

I did read that there is lots of variation in colouring with these.
Glad I could help. :)
