Had a go at light painting my 106 GTI

Ive seen a few photos of light painted cars recently and wanted to have a go on my own car. This was merely just a test, the car is not clean and not thought has gone into the composition, i just found a dark spot and took some photos then cropped at the end. This is several images all merged, and lit using my flashgun. Im hoping to try this again very soon but with a clean car better location etc so any pointers would be great!

Very nice shot, slightly unevenly lit but for a first attempt I think you have done very well. Never had a go myself so cannot give any pointers.

Much better than my first attempt!

Only thing to watch out for on top of what has been said above is:

- highlights on glass (windows/lights etc.)
- Shadows being cast from mirrors
- Light the environment that the car is as well.
- Remove the magic tree from the interior mirror as distracting.
- Lights on (more a personal preference though)

ONly other suggestion would be try diffusing your light source as the light seems quite harsh.

Good effort and look forward to seeing the next.

Ill make sure I take your tips on board next time :)
I was only using my flash gun bare, which is the reason it looks so harsh I think.

I really like your recent images especially the Audi, what do you use for your light source?
