Thanks for the positive comments everyone. The air to air shots were taken during the same sortie that we worked with HMS Illustrious - you can see the difference in the weather between 19000ft and 1000ft over Wales that day!

Actually, the boat was transitting the Irish Sea to take part in Ex JW. We have an RN pilot on Sqn and he set up the sortie with Illustrious. They controlled us for one intercept an and then used us as targets (simulated!) for their air defence systems.
When we were working with Freddie upstairs I referred to it as both 'boat' and 'ship' (much to the consternation of my back-seater!) Thankfully Freddie didn't seem to phased (he probable refers to a Hawk as a 'plane' - my pet hate!!)War Canoe, grey messenger of death, ship ! ...... not a boat, please !
