Hi,

Just bought a secondhand Panasonic DMC-LX3 as my carry round camera (the best camera you own). I knew it didn't have a viewfinder but was impressed by the spec for the price and thought "I'll just buy a viewfinder to sit on the hot-shoe". Should have checked the price of those!!

Found these cheapies http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/57682486/Mini site - finders/mini shop.html which work out at about £20 inc postage.

But does anyone know of any other cheap makes? All I want is something to allow me to hold the camera to my face!

Thanks.

It wont zoom with the camera though so wont be of much use. If you still get one, i got a cheappy for one of my cameras and the view through it was awful, too much distortion to be of much use.

These things are pretty much useless IMVHO as there's no zoom, no focus confirmation, no info., nothing.

I had a LX2 and currently have a LX5 which I hardly ever use but when I do use it I just use the back screen and whilst having to use the back screen is basically why I hardly ever use it sadly it's just about the only way to... unless you spend big money on the electronic VF.

Thanks for the replies essexash and woof woof. After looking around I've come to the same conclusion. The main issue is focusing for me. I've looked at a product called The Clearviewer too which is basically a loupe without any cover. I've decided to just use the LCD screen. If I ever see a cheap viewfinder I might go for it.

Thanks again.

Great little camera though!

I wish I knew about those when I made my 6x12 camera. I would have bought one instead of making it!

Another option is the Helios viewfinder (about the same price): http://www.leicashop.com/vintage_jp/helios-viewfinder-sku20662-8.html

It says $99 on that page but if you search ebay you can find them cheaper. I think mine was £25 including postage.

Thanks Steve.

I like your work too. You really embrace the past what with the rockabilly music and your photographic work. I've embraced digital but feel we've lost something from the film age (particularly aperture settings on lenses!). We seem to have the same interests too - I'm a semi-pro musician too. Wish i could build amps!
