Beginner How to improve this?

Hillwalking in the Peak District last week (Kinder Scout), we came across some interesting stones, as usual. This one was a 'must have' photo opportunity. As a 'family memory' type snap, I was well pleased with this but I'd like suggestions how to improve this into something a bit more (like a good photograph!) How could I have tried to improve this? I would have tried to include a little more space on the left so the boy and rock were looking more into the frame but there was another 'interesting' rock just to the left so I didn't want it to complicate the shot.

All comments and suggestions will be most welcome.

You'll need a photo editor.

Quick solution:-
Crop the pic so as to move the main subject (the boy) to the right of centre.
Straighten the horizon.
Increase contrast (mainly to boost the sky.
Apply a little sharpening (don't overdo it or you will create unsightly haloes).

If you can - give whoever vandalised the boulders a damned good thrashing :)

On top of arclight's suggestions, I would try a post processing gradient on the sky to try and add some drama/interest up top. If you have any software, mask out the sky and play with exposure/highlight/shadow etc to try and gain some detail in the clouds. Not too much that it detracts from the turtle jockey though ;)
