While out with the dogs on sunday spotted these 2 hovering and then diving down for i presume a kill as they didnt come back up. couldn't get closer as on wrong side of the river. not very photographic as didn't have time to set camera properly

i think they are buzzards but not sure if maybe red kite ?

Looks like a buzzard to me and a red kite to the right of picture 2
 
On second thoughts it must be a wren and a chaffinch ??
 
Top hawk 1st picture definately a Buzzard
Top right 2nd picture maybe a Red kite,
the tail looks forked but it may also be an illusion
if its the same hawk as in #3 then its a buzzard with a
"bad idea" about "feather moulting sequences"
( yes it is done in a logical order)

 
thanks for an informative id Cobra, wife watched them with binoculas and thought the both of them had the same light colouring under the wings, i just wasnt sure, they did seem to be flying together as a pair.
