Just got a 50mm

Last week i got a 50mm 1.8 mk2 for my birthday which is a great new toy.

After just a few shots and playing with DOF i can see i can have some fun with this.

Now when playing in low light with a flash at -1/3fec i am finding the camera is overexposing when at f1.8? am i doing anything wrong or?
 
What settings have you set the camera to ?
 
The flash cannot sync fast enough, so the shutter speed is too long, so its letting in too much light. You need to turn down the ISO, go for a smaller aperature or use a flash that can high speed sync.
