I like the second one, the reflection works really well. I usually think landscapes work better in that format and that seems the case here.

Agreed, I can see what you were trying to do with the first one but it's just not working anywhere near as well as the second one. As for the mono, you lose the quality of that beautiful light.

Composition is much strong in the second.
Nice light. Good of you to make a plant look so much nicer than they usually do!
To be picky, it's now Lafarge Tarmac Aberthaw, after their merger .

The portrait oriented image I was looking not to shoot it as a landscape shot but more of a symmetrical image between building and reflection so shot tall and frame filling.

i hope you dont mind me saying but i think if the power lines in #1 were cloned out it would better achieve the effect you were after.

I normally agree that a landscape oritentation works better, but the portrait seems tidier and neater. Re the wires, some will say remove, others will say keep. I say keep as they add to the industrial feel.Nice light, exposure, sky, really nice work and a great contrast of industry and country

If you are shooting Architecture a 5 x 4 or 7 x 5 crop often looks better in portrait format.
