I have an old present which is a laser etched motorcycle inside a block of glass. Playing with lighting and macro to see what can be done.

Placed it on top of my printer which is black and glossy, black background, LED inspection light on top of the glass illuminating it.
 
Excellent work Mike, really original. My only suggestion would be to have tried to keep the handlebar in focus, my eyes are drawn to it being OOF for some reason. Really eye-catching image. :)

Thanks, it's 3D, so the handle bar is nearer the camera and out of focus. I'll have another go with smaller aperture next weekend.

Even at F32 I can't get the handlebars into focus, so I probably need to experiment with stacking, something I have not done previously. In the interim I did see how close I could get using all my extender tubes. The wheel is about 1cm in diameter...
