Caught this little chap at the International Bird of Prey Centre in Newent Gloucestershire.
They did say what it was called but I can't remember and I can't seem to find anything on an Internet search with the criteria I'm using for the search ... any suggestions? :)

The grey face and the strong rufous orange, (?) colour has got me, but apart from that it looks like a Common Barn-owl (Tyto alba), but I have not seen many and none in good light

Thanks ... it's a variety of barn owl, but has a specific name, something like 'Dusky-Face'.

There is an Ashy-faced (Barn) Owl (Tyto glaucops) from, I think, somewhere in the Caribbean …… this being a sub species

(I thought that it was a UK owl ………when you posted it)

Great shot gramps, excellent
I'm moving in about 8 weeks time to a small village 5 miles from the Bird of Prey Centre in Newent
I shall definitely be visiting the centre

:exit:

A nice shot gramps shame about the background though

Hoping to go there next week - not been for a couple of years

Thanks Stan, I actually like the background variation ... it's well worth another visit :)
