M42 mount adaptor

I've just bought a cheapy adaptor (non-optical) to convert my M42 screw-fit lenses from my fujica to Nikon mount. I know I can't focus to infinity with them on a cheap adaptor, but will I still be able to meter with the camera (D40)? And how badly is IQ likely to be affected?

I didnt think anything under a D200 would meter with manual lenses.
Not sure as I am not a Nikon owner but couldn't get a friends D90 working fully with my range of Adaptall 2 lenses on a Nikon adapter.

Oh well, at worst it's 7 quid down the drain for now, although I do plan on buying a D200 at some point in the future anyway

you might find an issue with manually focusing in a crop size viewfinder

Not had a problem with manual focusing my lenses on a crop sensor. Like anything, the more you do something the easier it gets.

It came this morning...it won't even mount on my D40. So not only is it going back but the guys getting a stonkingly bad feedback.

Any markings on the adapter? Has he sent you one for a canon instead?

It sits in and turns, but stops short. It doesn't turn far enough to click in.
