Hi Hannah ... ... some good attempts at our resident feathered friends there ... (y)

The last one is a Robin ... ;)

:p

Last one is a Robin, they do tend to really puff themselves up, and can look twice as big when they do

Are you shooting through glass?

i'm guessing that bird is the same as these?

I almost caught a robin on a fence.. if the car hadden't have driven past, and made it fly away.. (but thats my next bird shot challange.. to find a robin)

YAY so I did get a robin.. so dad was right...

nope I was on the other side of the road when i got the robin..

didn't know Robins can puff themselfs up like that..
so i got two surprise pictures last week!

was photographing the sparrow in the bush out the front, and going back and forth to the bay window in the lounge as i was preparing lunch for work, when the last snaps i took were of blue tits (i thought they were sparrows when i took them, and didn't have time to preview the pics as i was running late)

and then getting that robin the next day..

humm ok my challage is to get a better shot of a robin

remember my last post I said my challange was to get a good shot of a Robin...

I did this morning (yay)
was eating breakfast here in my room, when I could hear a bird close by singing.. looked out.. ROBIN
I only got two shots before it flew away..

I also heard a wood pecker in a tree on the way into work this morning, although I never got chance to go and locate it :-(

Seems like you've been bitten by the 'bird photo' bug :D
Keep at it, you're certainly getting a good variety of birds to shoot. (y)

I went thro the same thing as you are just last week and my first shots well......
anyway I kept at it for 3 days in total and I got some crackers :woot:

Put some feeders out in your garden. I used bread crumbs for 2 days untill I got out to buy some hanging fat balls, actually Big Fat Balls and hung them where I could shoot from in comfort of the house. I used a wooden pick-nick table to lift them from the floor.
I used my (Open) kitchen window as my base and fed a few places just within my camera lens range and I let the birds get used to the feeding. I have regular birdies come and go every day.(I still throw out a hand full of crumbs each day)
I still use bird feed as I want more colourfull birdies to shoot and still hang out the BFB`s in the trees (y)

I have seed, peanuts, fat balls and crumbs out and all I get is 1 big fat pigeon.:(

Unfortunally I do have one major problem in our garden.... both neighbours either side of me have some cats that I love, so i'm being careful where I hang the feed balls

i've not got a bird table, my neighbours have, but been eaten by the wasps!..
so I need to look at none wooden ones!

I check the bird food everyday, see if theres any signs of it being eaten, i did descover I'd lost one of the feed balls (fell out of the net)
but the ground is wet so they are eating the worms reather than my food!

any ideas!

AlisonD sent me a flickr pic of a robin y'day with the words:
"I know that you will be shooting a better Robin than this in the next week !
Go get 'em Hannah !!!!!!!!!"

And what appears on the bush this morning... ROBIN!!

so heres a couple.. and they are better than my previous shots of a robin (maybe better lighting?)
