Hi,
I have always been interested in taking pictures of birds, but never really had the right equipment to achieve this. I recently bought the Sony A6000 and was keen to try out its continuous autofocus on birds. I managed to get to Cornwall for the summer holidays, and had a chance at the beach to shoot the seagulls, and kestrels which were soaring in the air hunting for prey.

Now my hope is that Sony come out with longer telephoto lenses for their E-mount cameras, as shooting at 200mm does not really give much reach, and the use of A-mount lenses does not make use of its great hybrid autofocusing system.

I also tried shooting birds in my garden using the Smart remote control App from Sony and the Sony A6000. I managed to place the camera within 2 to 3 metres of the feeder. Here is what I got:

Sadly only the house sparrows were visiting that day.

Some great details on the birds on the feeders.

Thanks. Having the camera very close to the feeder makes a big difference. Plus the Sony FE 70-200/4 is a very sharp lens. I'm hoping to catch different birds there if I can. There is a woodpecker that comes around here every now and then, so hopefully I can manage to catch that at some point.
