Not shot any bird images in ages due to being really busy at work and travelling a lot, but yesterday I forced myself away from my desk for a hour at lunch and went to the local nature park and got these. Light was very poor so all shot at ISO4000 on my D800 with a bare Nikon 300mm F4 AFS (so quite heavily cropped).

Hope you like.

and My first Jay !, shame about the grass on the second one, but he was only there for a few seconds and I had to take what I was given.

Good set, love the woody and the marsh tit ... you've dealt with the exposure of the great tits very well, I find them quite difficult with the black/white contrast on the head. Nuthatch looks a bit soft and the Jay could have cooperated with you for a more pleasing setting but well done for getting them :)

I was going to say, is that a nuthatch...aren't they quite rare!?

I like them, crisp and great colours. 2-3 have the best character for me

Not as common as say the great tit but not really rare ... mind you it's all relative, I've never seen a marsh tit :)

I agree with all the points Gramps has made, Andrew (y)
In addition I would add that you have some lovely clean backgrounds in the first five images, but they appear a little noisy - maybe because they are large crops or a tad over-sharpened perhaps? Great to see you posting - keep 'em coming!

A lovely set. The marsh tit is my favourite of the bunch....nice.

Great photos!
