To be honest while I really like the effect on the first one they're all rather soft and the colour of the smoke and the backgrounds are causing the smoke to get a little lost in the background you need a little more separation of the two elements :shrug:

Agree with matt - could do with a bit more light on them, if possible you could try with a flash off to the side of the smoke for that bit extra.

Tried a few a while ago (on my Flickr) and was quite pleased with them.

Did you use anything to stop spillage? I use a bit rogue flash bender as a gobo, a bit of card or similar would do the same though

Thanks had my flash head on 3/4, the light before was way too low

I used my snoot this time and moved the black backdrop further away. I was assuming the snoot would stop the spillage. thanks

Yes its amazing and got some great scrolls too, as for trickery, unfortunately I am not fully conversant with being able to do trickery and wouldn't know where to start.

Yeah that'd be the problem originally, but the snoot seems to be working nicely now
