Does anyone use Nd filters for outdoor portraits in bright sunlight when using flash?
Just thinking if it is bright, max sync speed is 1/320 and for a shallow DOF I would use a wide aperture. All good when I can find shade etc. but not always possible for family shots with my 3 year old!
Just after your experiences.
 
High speed sync is worth looking at too, you can go way beyond 1/320. No reason why you couldn't use ND's to keep the SS down though, I've done it a couple of times using my Quadra's, not sure how effective it would be with less powerful strobes in bright sunlight for family shots, especially if you want to soften the light in any way.
