Nikon 20mm f/1.8G

Yup!

Mentioned a couple of times here - nobody seemed to take notice :D

The widest I have right now is a 35mm, so definitely interested in this. BUT ... tamron have a juicy looking 15-35 2.8 on the way too. Will have to see reviews on each.

If it's anything close to the 85 1.8G in terms of quality, I'll bite for sure. I know it's a very different animal, but in terms of sharpness, and fun to use. I believe it's very light. [edit] just checked, it's 357g - about the same as 85, a tad heavier than the 28mm.

Doubt it will be in the realm of the Zeiss 21mm but hope it will be better than the other Nikon lenses at 20mm.

Zeiss' build quality is peerless but the 21*T faired comparatively close to the 16-35 f/4 @ 21mm optically.

I'm interested how this prime fairs at f/11 compared to the 16-35 f/4.

I have the 16-35 & until the runners wear down I can't fault it. With the release of the 20 and previously the 35 f/1.8 I'm wondering if I should sell up my 16-35 & 24-70 Nikkor zooms.

I sold my 24-70 2.8 and 70-200 VR II and bought the sigma 35 1.4, the Nikon 85 1.8G a 150 macro and a 300mm - I just wanted to go all prime for a bit. I go through these stages ... :D A 20mm would complete the range for me.

I used the Zeiss 21 for a short while (the version I won on ebay had completely unusable corners so had to go back) but I did love the look / colour produced by it. I have the 28mm g, 50mm 1.4g and the 85mm 1.8g and think this would finish off my lens needs if it is a decent performer. I love the g lenses but they do feel a bit 'cheap' compared to the afd lenses, but are much better optically.

I was interested until I saw the price! If I ever need a low light UWA prime for a project I think I would just get a Samyang 24/1.4.

Yes, very :)

You could make a cracking set of 'modest' primes with Nikon's current offerings. 20mm 1.8, 28mm 1.8, 35mm 1.8, 50mm 1.8 (or 1.4 but that would trouble my OCD), 85mm 1.8. Just need a 135mm 1.8 please Nikon :)

I've already got the 28 and 85, both I find are excellent. I've no need of a 50, did have the 1.8 in that too and IQ etc. was good. I'm tempted by the 35 too.

Already got the 20mm f/2,so not really interested. But would like to know how the two compare optically. I bet the D version is a lot smaller though.

I've got them all, not really got much of a need for a 20mm but the completist in me will find it hard to resist :)

Picked one up from Calumet today. £50 off any accessory when you buy it so managed to get a nice Hoya 10-stop filter to go with it for £29. Happy chappy.
