Not even a missprint £99k lens

This needs to be put on a Nikon 1 Series camera via an EOS Adaptor...3240mm anyone?!

I was thinking about switching from Nikon to Canon so that I could take advantage of that "once in a lifetime" bargain

I would think a 600f4mkII and 2x mkIII tc would match it for IQ so given that you can get this setup for around £10,000 you would be paying £89,000 to gain 1 stop on the 1200mm .
Now that does seem a lot to me.

Rob.

Minimum focus distance is something like 50 feet

now where is that Damselfly?

There's at least one available from a UK hire house, iirc PL mount adapted, a colleague who's a film industry camera assistant worked with one a while back. Cool but specialised!

Shock, horror!

A 100% cure for "Lens Envy" and ALCS (Averted Lens Check Syndrome).

Never again will you have to sneak a peek at the guy's (or gal's) kit sat next to you in the bird hide ensuring that they aren't packing more glass than yourself...

Really? I've never heard of that. Which company has it?

Zeiss did a 1700mm f/4 for some crown prince in the middle east. Think it was about 250 kilos.

It's a very limited run so this will be a pretty decent investment.

I am guessing that the Paparazzi would use kit like this? a couple of pictures sold to magazines should cover it!
But would the quality be any better than say , a 600 with a x2 extender I wonder?

How would you climb a tree with that thing on your back!

Here's some footage from a 1200mm on a RED. Unsurprisingly owned by someone in Dubai. Subject is the crown prince so might well be his.

Well, it's an unusual and truly striking picture of a bloke (albeit a crown prince!) in front of the moon, without doubt.

As a picture of the moon I can see vastly better with my 500 quid telescope.

Erm, what's the point of technical demos again?

I think I could make a portable set up with my new eos m and lens mount converter .

thers at least three other threads about this.. the one i started was last week! :)

Let me know about the others and I'll pull 'em all together.

Give it about 48 hrs.. someone will think they have some news for us :)

Couldn't quite justify the £100,000 (I'd need a body as well as the lens!) for the beast but could justify the £000,200 for a Panny FZ72 which stretches out to 1200 at the long end. I'm prepared to bet that the quality from the Cannon (sic!) lens would be better but not sure it's worth 500x as much! FWIW, the Panny is handholdable at the long end for moon shots which is the main reason I wanted a superdooper (in terms of stretch!) zoom and should be handy as an electric telescope too, capable of giving 1/2 decent shots at a push.
