yeah thats a cracker. how far away were you?
 
Thanks for your comments. It was taken with a 300mm lens with a 2x on at about minimum focus, so about 6 feet :) Thats how it came out of the camera, no crop.
 
Very nice Martin, you have nailed the focus on the eye and exposure looks spot-on :clap:
Did you run this through a noise reduction programme? The reason I ask is that it looks a touch soft/smooth on the breast but this could have been down to a shallow DOF.
 
Well spotted Roy. It was passed through noiseware and I've just checked the original and the chest it a wee bit sharper, although the background is noisier. As you say the DOF is about 2mm at that distance :)

You want to try some selective noise reduction Martin, just running it on the back ground and not the bird itself.
