Ide have recommended a soft edge grad filter, the skies blown. To be honest other than the reflections and bits of mist in the hills, its a pretty dullly lit image. Its better to get a bit of sun behind you or to the side to give more interesting light. Dull grey days are days the camera should stay in the bag.

I tend to be selective of when I shoot, you do get good days up here. Just don't head out on the dull flat grey ones.

I was in Scotland for only a few days so no choice

I still reckon you could have held that sky back with an ND grad mind you. Do you use them?

I had a 0.6 GND attached

For me, it is a well composed picture of yet another dramatically beautiful corner of the highland landscape, albeit under a familiarly bleak and chilly northern sky. I like it very much.

I like it. It's an accurate reflection of what we get up here (no pun intended).
