No
had this rather vivid green moth come and settle on our back door window.

first shot was taken on fuji HS30 EXR in Macro mode from about 1/2 inch away

second shot on canon 60D with Sigma 70-300 APO DG in macro setting ( on a tripod from about 4 feet away.

maybe its just me but i think the Fuji one is better .

im guessing thats down to the quality of the optics etc.

You'd really need to say what the apertures were to get a comparison. The Fuji shot shows a lot more DOF so that every part of the moth is in focus, whereas the Canon shot has limited DOF as might be expected from the larger sensor. The lighting is also different in that there are shadows in the Canon shot but none in the Fuji one. Final thing would be that the contrast is higher in the Canon shot, but that might just be the settings you have for the camera.

Fuji was shot on EXR mode in super macro .

F/4
1/110 sec
ISO 200 at 14mm
spot focus

second shot on canon
f/7.1
1/5 sec
ISO 100 at 238mm
metering mode pattern ( hmmm shouldnt that be spot ! )

think because of the focal distance and the fact the moth was on a double glazed glass window the fuji one is "cleaner"

odd that it has shallower DOF but is the sharper back to front of the two on the antennae.

just shows though .. a £130 bridge V a £600 DSLR
i guess its a case of again its all about the glass.
