Pictures of smoke

So since I have so much to do - my finale assignment for uni - I have decided to waste few precious hours and take some photos of smoke.
I don't have flash gun, which I could use to light up smoke from the side, so I just used gorilla torch. I am still a beginner photographer, so please tell me what you think.

I know it is so time consuming ! 2h gone in just a matter of few (hundreds) shots But results are satisfying. Definitely something to try at home

Have to say I've never seen it done before! How did you achieve them? Other than several hundred attempts

What I did was, I have used black A3 paper as a background, and had a torch on from a side, so it would not compromise the background. Then manual/auto focus on the smoke, and on manual settings obviously you would try to have relatively fast shutter speed and F8. well that's what i have used on some. U need to try few before you have the right settings. every one would be different depends on the lights you are using. If you have flushgun that u can set a side and use it it would be great. I don;t have it so I have used torch light. Adn if you happy with the results you just put them to Photoshop and fiddle about with colours. If you want withe backgroung just invert the colours.

Very nice indeed, it would be hard to choose a favourite...I do prefer the black background though, it just gives them that extra definition....well done.
