A photo I took this afternoon for my work as sales manager of Specialist Cars of Malton, a Porsche 356 Speedster, one of fewer than 20 made in right hand drive and for sale at several hundred thousand pounds. 1/200th at f14, ISO200 with a 3 stop soft edged ND grad and some Elinchrom Ranger Quadra battery powered studio flash. When I processed this I wanted a vintage feel to go with the 1958 car, so warmed up the white balance and desaturated the image slightly.

I rather like that, suits the car well.

That's rather beautiful, shame the top of the windscreen is a little lost. A highlight to pick it out would maybe have worked.

Nice pic. Nice car. But the ground in front of the car makes it look like it is leaking fluid.

very nice. do love these cars. Shot a Chesil replica last summer myself and was such a beauty!

Same with the shadow at the front. A little more light would have worked from that direction.
Beautiful car, good location choice, and quite nicely balanced against the background. It would have been easy to overnight the car and make it look like a composite.

Very nice, really like the vintage feel you've created.

Great photo (y)
How do you find the Elinchrom Quadra ranger kit for quality and ease of use? Would you recommend the kit to others?

Thanks! I love my Quadras, really useful kit, being able to adjust them from the Skyport trigger is really useful, they're powerful and pack up really small. I've got a two head kit with S heads and with the pack, heads, two batteries, Skyport, cables and charger it all goes in a small attaché case.

I'm on the mobile site so can't tell where you're based but if you're anywhere near me (York or Malton, North Yorkshire) you're welcome to come and have a go.

Thanks for the offer, Unfortunately I'm Based in Scotland and I'm actually overseas working in the Middle East.
I'm trying to do some research into these lights and it's good to have the opinions of others who use these lights before I jump in, May look at buying a set once I'm back home,
I'm just getting into lighting and will likely take me quite a bit time to get best use of them.

Thanks

Yeah Thanks, hiring them sounds like a good idea. You are probably right about NEEDING ;) a set after hiring them.
That way I can try out both the A and S sets of heads. That is the main thing I'm not too sure about.

I was originally looking at the A heads for what little extra cost they are, and I though that these would perform everything the S heads can and more.
However I have read a few things which has confused me a little, and to me it read that there may be some advantages to the S heads aside from just cost.
So I need to do more research and learn more about the 2 heads. Was there any Technical reasons why you chose the S head over the A heads?

Nice shot.

Saw a right hand drive Speedster in New Zealand a few weeks ago. There was a 356 club meeting. About 20 cars in all, some converted to right hand drive, some original and others left hand drive...

I occasionally cycle past a new 50th anniversary 911 in a similar heritage colour, complete with old-school looking wheels. Thoroughly modern in every technical aspect, of course.
