Well done to your 11 year old for one, start them early 
If he wants any crit, I would say to wind the aperture open from the f/11 it was, down to as fast as your lens will go (f/5.6 in this case) just to try and blur the tent behind with the tea Urn (which I think is a little out of place LOL)

Yes as you say a smaller f number would have blurred it a bit but he will learn by his mistakes thanks for the comments.
