Samyang 85mm f1.4 lens

I recently bought a Samyang 85mm f1.4 lens. The photo below was taken with it at f1.4 using a D700. The only thing I have done to the image is cropped it.

 
dof is nice but the contrast seems pretty pants and it's a bit soft

that might be down to lighting and technique though :)
 
I'm guessing a SAMYANG lens in Nikon mount is gonna be either an old M42 mount or a new Chinese produced lens and to be honest I bet it is pretty good value for the money. That shot does look a tad soft but I think if it were stopped down to f2.8 it should sharpen up nicely, I think with a bit of PP this image would sharpen up too.

Nice to see a natural looking photo, and a young subject who still enjoys the process.
 
Looks good to me. Aren't they manual focus only? I agree that it could be sharpened up nicely in PP though. ;)

It is manual focus. I intentionally put the photo up without processing to give people an idea of the capability of the lens. I reckon it is £200 well spent
