Shooting monkeys at London zoo

So I spent Saturday wandering around London zoo shooting various animals. Most of my time was spent in with the monkeys - yes you can get inside the wire which makes photography a fair bit easier (details here).

I found a spot in the enclosure beneath a rope and waited; SAL70200 in one hand (spider holster) and 17-35 in the other (round the neck). I waited for one or more of the black capped squirrel monkeys to run over the rope above my head to catch it with the 17-35, but typically they went every other route possible! A bit like waiting for buses; I'd started to wait so I refused to quit and then an hour or so in a group of three or four came over. Was very pleased with the final image (top).

Enjoy...

Oh, and one more. Doesn't really fit with the set but I like the detail. Call it the bonus ball of the photography world:

The first shot is amasing.......with the sun behind the tree really frames the image. Top shot and I imagtion we'll worth the waiting? :D

The second shot doesn't do it for me, I think its the fact the monkey's face is very dark.

I also really like shot 5.

Some great pics.

Thanks Mbuti, yes I agree - it was worth the wait, I would've been really annoyed if they'd never come over there though! Have to agree with you on pic no.2, this one gets the face better...

...but I just really liked the back lighting and the reds of the plants in the back.

Thanks for your comments, appreciate them
