Yes have to agree. Real harsh light here and a blown sky.

Don't give up on landscapes. It's just a matter of learning when to try for a shot and when not to bother. You don't even need a camera to watch how the same scene changes with different lighting, different skies, different time of day/time of year etc. It's all about the light, and it's not really any different from bird photography.

As Jan says, don't give up on the landscapes just yet, you had a good eye for the shot, just the wrong time of day
