I'm thinking about having a shuffle round of some of my lenses, namely at the long end. Currently I have a sigma 150-500 but since moving to FF I find that most of the time it is at the longer end of the zoom range. So I am thinking of changing it for a Canon 400 F/5.6 L. My worry is this this leaves me with a gap from 200mm to 400mm. Ultimately I guess I'd like a canon 300 f/4 IS too but budget is what it is.
So my thoughts are to get a 1.4 teleconverter/extender for this would extend my 200 to 320 should the need arise. I wondered if anyone had used this combination and what converter did you use, as Tamron reckon that it can't be done?

My kenko 1.4 and 2x dgx converters work on my 70-200VC with either a 5D2 or 7D. I haven't used the lens with either of them very often but it functioned OK, AF obviously slowed down. One thing though the 1.4 will make 200 into 280 not 320 ;).
