This was one of the better shots I took at the weekend, still have a lot to learn in the technique department lol

I would say a hoverfly of some sort, there is, if you have facebook page, This guy knows them all, its UK hoverflies.
Nice pic btw altho it looks a little soft but still it sits well on my desk

It looks very much like Xanthogramma pedissequum. I posted one a few days ago - http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/threads/xanthogramma-pedissequum-and-a-vine-weevil.551670/

Your shot is a little soft but to be honest, it's still a very decent capture and you've still captured the vibrancy of this species. I wouldn't be too hard on yourself.

every one was quite soft, It was very frustrating... had some great opportunities but could not get decent focus on any of them... try try again as they say

Keep going mate... it is frustrating but if you keep plugging away you will get there just ask @Carlh and @hoftwi they both only recently started and look at their images now

Once you get in the swing you will be fully addicted trust me
