The California Nebula

This nebula is an emission nebula 1000 light years from Earth.
I'm just trying out a "new" little scope for widefield imaging, the Askar FMA 180 lens/astrograph.

Better than a 200mm lens on a DSLR?

That's a good point frequently raised about using this lens. I don't have a 200mm lens to try, I did have a Tamron 200mm FD but I messed up the mount so I'm thinking of getting another one from Ebay.
I think that a DSLR or mirrorless, especially a full frame would have a fair amount of field curvature which doesn't happen with this lens/scope as it comes with a field flattener. I'm sure I'll try out this little scope on my Sony A9 for some non-astro photography.

I have seen some of his videos but didn't know he has used that little scope, I'll have a look at his YT page.
