Looks like studs gone through to the muscle. Serious pain (and a lot of blood too). I ripped my muscle like that (not with metal studs though) when I was 9. It hurts to think about it.
I wish him a good recovery, but he'll proabably be out for the season.
I think it's an 'action' shot I'd be proud of having, but not proud because it's of an injury if you know what I mean.
