It looks quite dusty and noisy? Is it an HDR (it would better be NOT!)? Finally I don't think the foreground catches my interest, sorry. Maybe a telephoto shot would have captured the atmosphere better?

It's not HDR, but I have been using picasa which I've noticed adds noise when the sharpness if turned up (most noticible in the cloud in the middle). Maybe I need to try elements instead!
So you think a telephoto to bring the background closer, but still keeping some foreground? (I wanted the snow in there). Maybe I'll wait until the tide comes in to hide some of the mud.
I am still learning about composition, so don't hold back
