Generally speaking I'm pretty rubbish at wildlife photography, most things seem to escape me before I've finished setting the camera the way I want. I've finally found something that moves slowly enough for me to get a shot.

Photographed very close to our hotel in Tortuguero, Costa Rica. A Three Toed Sloth descending a tree to do "poo poo".

Before visiting Costa Rica I was told that I would be lucky to see a sloth in the wild except high up in the trees, as they only descend to the forest floor about every 7 or 8 days to defecate away from the area where they normally live.

A Sloth must be the most innocuous animal in the world. Afteral, when you move at the speed they go and eat only fruit & veg you will only ever be prey not predator.

Interesting insight on thier behavioural patterns.

Your next challenge will be SiF… Sloth in Flight! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I had a chance with these guys many many years ago and
the joke was: this is the only animal in the world that can be
overtaken by moss! :D

Nice to see one again, well done! (y)(y)(y)

Jealous jealous jealous!!!

I have seen them in the Rainforest in Panama a couple of years ago. To see them in there natural habitat is great. We ventured into the Rainforest when we returned some hours later it had moved about two foot.
And one other thing they are not as big as I thought they were.
