Tight/sticky zoom ring

Hi, I arrived in Florida a week ago. Used my Fuji until yesterday when I took my Nikon 17-55 out. Noticed the zoom ring was very stiff/tight when I zoomed.

I've not knocked it at all and this is the first time it has happened.

Any ideas what caused this or how to fix it?

It's supposed to be like that, mine is the same. Sorry I read it as tight sticky ring not tight sticky zoom ring.
