Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a decent torch for lighting foreground interest up when taking star trails? The torch I have now seems to give off a bluish light that's not very clear or nice.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Thanks for this. How bright is this, and what's the distance like?

Yeah always shoot in RAW unless attempting a time lapse.

I use some cheapo chinese ultrafire wf-502b torches from ebay for lightpainting and have had no problems and although I dont know the temperature of the light it is pretty decent straight off the bat and waterproof too, do you shoot in Raw because you can change the colour temperature in Lightroom.....torches here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WF-502B-CREE-XM-L-T6-5-Mode-1000LM-LED-Flashlight-18650-UK/261417308986?_trksid=p2054897.c100204.m3164&_trkparms=aid=222007&algo=SIC.MBE&ao=1&asc=20140407115239&meid=8479288720884994819&pid=100204&prg=20140407115239&rk=7&rkt=20&sd=261433017699

it is stated by some to be 1200 lumins but is more like 1000 with a decent battery in it, distance is impressive although I dont know exactly but here is a video

Looks good thanks

What ever you get, put a diffuser on it. Remember, it's not total brightness that is important as you can just paint slower...!

Absolutely, my unit has 3 power settings and I generally use the middle one. I've not done an awful lot with it but it's there if the occasion arises.
