Critique Trying to master photography panning

Not the easiest of things to do!

I have to photograph the Tour of Britain in a few months, and because it's a bit hit or miss on whether you get a sharpe image or not I might have to give up on the idea, unless the cyclists go around in laps.

Okayish for a 1st attempt. Practice, practice, practice is the name of the game.
 
Hi was about 125, tbh shooting below that wasn't coming too good!
 
A big mistake when I first tried this was locking focus, at the start of the pan and not refocusing as i panned. which meant shots were out of focus when i actually clicked. I dont do much motor sport so im sure you will get lots of much better advice. But not refocusing as you pan is an easy thing to forget.
If you are still having trouble at !/125 bring it up a bit till your technique improves.
