Wensleydale - Which one?

I haven't spent much time in this part of the forum this year but want to try and change that and get back to some landscapes.

We've just spent a few days away near Bedale. I found this field on the back road from Hawes to Leyburn. Two shots taken but I can't decide which works better - landscape or portrait format? Any feedback would be appreciated

The Landscape orientation for me Peter. The barn feels a little lost in frame in the portrait crop, and I think the first shot certainly benefits from being shot a touch closer in, as details like the heather on the tops, and the trees and barn add a lot more interest to the scene, which is lost in the portrait version.

I think if you cropped the landscape to a portrait you'd have a winner.
The portrait shot is a bit too far out for me though.

I like the landscape one best. However, the sky is too bland and could do with some contrast. Also the grass on the right is too bright and needs darkened slightly.

Nice bit of the Dales here Peter..I would go along with Dean and Crop 1/4 sky.

The 1st one for me as the hut in the second is a little lost' agreed on the crop just to lose a little of the sky both are nice tho.

Thanks for all the comments folks. Very useful feedback. Looks like the first one is the favoured of the two. Based on some of the comments I've done a couple more edits

Yea much improved with the crop Peter ,prefer the landscape Yorkshire Dales personified

Thanks for the further comments. Yes I certainly agree the suggestion made having given the final image (#4) the winning edge over the others.

Landscape format gives better balance. I prefer the 2nd crop.
