I'm looking at getting either the Sigma or Canon for my 5d.
Does anybody have any experience with both these lenses.
Is the extra cost justified for the Canon (I know its an L)
Any opinions welcome.

I was looking at the same thing recently and got pointed in the direction of Juza's reviews, he's used both in the field so can make good comparisons.

Having read those and some other reviews of the lenses and had a play with them I ended up going for the Sigma and have not been disapointed with it.

Here's a couple of my early shots from the Sigma 180 f3.5.

Hi, i have the same issue with which one to get having checked out the reviews looks like sigma for me too.

It looks like the Sigma is edging it. (If only I wasn't addicted to the red ring)

I know what you mean about the red ring but these Sigma macro lenses really do seems to be up there in image quality. If you can get the chance to try before you buy the take some test shots for yourself, I'm sure you'll find that the Sigma is up to the job.

Im stunned by the quality of all of these images.
My mind is made up. At a good few hundred quid cheaper and at least equal image quality
It has to be the Sigma.
cheers folks:)

well i gotta say its a few hundred quid dearer than this time last year though. i paid 499 from jessops last year this year it is now 789
